Say hello to our Skinner family
Who are we researching?
We started this project with our mother, Janet Francis (nee Skinner) of Langstone, and her parents, Donald Skinner of Abernant Farm in Kemeys Inferior, Monmouthshire, and Catherine Phillips of Cwm Farm in Rogerstone, Newport. This led us to look at the maternal and paternal lines for both; four extraordinary families, all rooted in farming. For Donald we found the Skinner and Watkins families, and for Catherine two Phillips families.
We have uncovered wonderful stories of farmers, travellers, soldiers and academics, rich family histories that endure today. Our research is still ongoing, and we would love to hear from anyone who can help [email protected].

What next?
When we have completed researching our maternal grandparents, we want to learn more about the family of our father, Bernard Francis. He was born in 1936 and grew up at Shirefield on Highmoor Hill, near Caldicot, with his parents Ernest and Florence Francis.
Bernard married Janet Skinner in 1964 and they lived at Langstone Villa in Langstone where they raised a family. If you can help with our research on Bernard and his family, please get in touch. [email protected].
